Rachel Allen, LCSW, RPT-S

Rachel Liebing Allen is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Registered Play Therapy Supervisor (RPT-S). She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, with an emphasis in Social Work, from California State University, Fullerton, and completed her Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work at Brigham Young University. With over 20 years of experience in the field, Rachel brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her practice.

As the founder of Sunray Family Counseling, a company she established more than 16 years ago, Rachel successfully managed four clinics and led a team of over 24 therapists, providing care to thousands of clients. After selling her practice and spending several years living abroad in Ecuador with her family, she is excited to offer therapeutic services to individuals in the Coeur d’Alene area.

Rachel is passionate about working with clients of all ages and is trained in evidence-based modalities including EMDR, ART, Play Therapy, TF-CBT, and Theraplay. In addition to her work with children, she has extensive experience treating teens and adults, and those with end of life challenges. She has primarily focused on providing telehealth services to adult women over the past few years. Her specialties include trauma, relational issues, postnatal care, abuse, depression, patenting issues, life transitions, anxiety, ADHD, and relationship challenges.

In her practice, Rachel integrates a variety of therapeutic approaches, such as EMDR, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Jungian therapy, expressive arts, and sand tray therapy. She emphasizes attachment theory and applies family systems to support holistic healing.

Outside of her professional work, Rachel enjoys traveling with her husband and three daughters. She is an avid skier, surfer, snorkeler, and sport fencer, and loves spending time outdoors in nature.

Chris Allen, LMFT, CSAT, CPTT

Chris Allen holds a Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management from Utah Valley University and a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Argosy University. With over 23 years of experience in the field, he has taken on various leadership roles and built a reputation as a highly skilled and compassionate therapist.

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist (CSAT), and Certified Partner Trauma Therapist (CPTT), Chris specializes in helping individuals, couples, and spouses navigate complex issues such as betrayal trauma, pornography addiction, and other online addictions. Chris is trained in a variety of therapeutic approaches, including EMDR, Jungian therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), expressive arts, and sand tray therapy. His expertise extends to treating abuse, depression, ADHD, and more. Known for his calm demeanor and ability to connect with teens and children, Chris’s play therapy skills are highly valued by his clients.

In addition to his professional work, Chris is a passionate world traveler and collector. Visitors to his office can admire his unique collection of masks and enjoy his extensive collection of vinyl records. Outside of work, he loves spending time with his wife and three daughters and enjoys roller skating, sailing, and exploring the art of apothecary.

Madolyn M. Liebing, Ph.D., Licensed Psychologist, LMFT

Madolyn (Maddy) Liebing, Ph.D. is a Licensed Psychologist and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She has 39 years of experience working as a therapist and psychologist in a variety of settings. She was the first Psychologist in wilderness therapy, co-founding what became the Aspen Achievement Academy and was honored in 2015 with the OBH Eagle Award. Starting in 2025, Madolyn will be starting at Northern Lights Family Counseling.

Maddy has been the Clinical Director of Juniper Canyon Treatment Center and the Legacy Treatment Center. Dr. Maddy has supervised and trained numerous staff members and clinicians. Her passion is using the outdoors as an active participant in recovery that naturally facilitates healing, balance, and health. She is attuned to helping adolescents, adults, couples, and families including treating addiction, mental health issues, trauma/PTSD, anxiety, and depression. 

Maddy is trained and experienced in Adventure Therapy, Wilderness Therapy, Equine Therapy, Family Sculpting, Experiential Therapy, Attachment Therapy/Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). 

Currently Dr. Liebing is currently only accepting clients in need of  psychological testing and/or neuropsychological evaluations. She is recognized for having accurate and individualized testing that helps support and inform treatment and life planning. Her reports are funcional for helping treatment progress in the most effective way. She loves camping with her family, skiing, riding horses, and just plain adventuring.
